Our learning environment
Indoors
There is a main playroom located within the building where children have opportunities to access & select resources. There is also a small quiet/sensory room where children can relax or play quietly. We have a kitchen, child friendly toilets & a good size cloakroom.
Outdoor spaces/free-flow areas for continued learning
We have plenty of space outdoors where children have the choice to play in our garden spaces daily, within our 2 garden areas. One is a woodland area which has a mud kitchen, a digging area, climbing challenges & a rope & tyre swing. All of these activities are all extremely good to promote gross motor skills.
The other space is a soft pore surface area which supports play using bikes & resources that continue outdoors. We can also access the school playing field for larger space activities.
Nurture cabin
We run a Nurture programme which is designed for a small group of children aged over 3. It supports children in a holistic way to promote their personal, social & emotional development.
Wellcomm
We offer a Wellcomm programme which supports children’s language & communication development.
We also have a second cabin for small group activities.
Play & Education
Creating a culture of curiosity, awe & wonder is embedded at the heart of our setting. We use natural resources that help to inspire children’s imagination.
When children are actively curious, their brains light up! Deep intrigues, questioning & thinking connects the pathways of the brain. The ethos is about using a child’s natural curiosity to go back to basics with the use of real-world objects & natural resources.
It is based on children’s imagination, supporting their interests during child led play, which encourages them to make objects into whatever they want them to be.
Early Years Practitioners
Experience & Qualifications
We have many years of experience between us. Staff have worked in a variety of roles in day nurseries, family centres & schools.
Our qualifications range from
- Level 5 degree to level 3 in childcare certificates.
- Level 3 accreditation in language & literacy.
- Fully trained in First Aid & Safeguarding
- All staff fully DBS checked.
- We are trained in the specialist area of Nurture
- Trained in the Language & Communication programme called 'Wellcomm'
Key person
We have a key person system whereby a named practitioner has responsibilities for a number of children & are there to help the child settle & feel safe & secure. We work together with families to support the child’s maximum potential. We promote good relationships with parents/carers & will discuss your child’s progress with you throughout the year.
